Our Financial Planning Team operates under the banner of Kennedy Barnden Financial Services Pty Limited, under the Charter Financial Planning Ltd. licenced dealership, ABN 37 571 600 219 (AFSL no. 234665).

Our financial planning process:

Identify - where you want to be and to help you identify your financial and lifestyle goals.

  • Investigate - the opportunities and risks to assess your current situation and investigate the range of financial options available.
  • Bridging the gap - we will devise a strategy to bridge the gap between where you are now and where you want to be.
  • Implement the plan - we work closely with you to implement your financial strategy.
  • Staying on track – we design an ongoing service programme to suit you so as to ensure your plan remains up to date as your life changes.

Initial consultation

The first appointment is about getting to know each other and is free of charge.

Come with your financial goals and details of your income, superannuation, debts, assets and insurances so we can work out how we can help you.

If you decide to proceed to the next stage, we will discuss all fees and charges with you at this point.

Investment Planning

Determining what investments can best help deliver your wealth creation needs requires an understanding of:

What your investment options are;

  • How different types of investments tend to perform over long periods of time; and
  • Your financial goals, so you can pick an investment mix suited to your specific retirement investment objectives and risk tolerance.

Your primary investment choices can be broken into four general asset categories – Shares, Property, Fixed Interest/Bonds and Cash. Though each may play a role in your long-term strategy, creating the ideal investment mix involves identifying your personal objectives and risk tolerance and diversifying your investments accordingly. That is, choosing what’s appropriate for you and acquiring the appropriate investments.

Superannuation Planning

The key difference between investments and superannuation is that superannuation is restricted for use in retirement – so it’s not suitable for saving for pre-retirement goals.

The legislative environment constantly changes so it is important to understand how changes in superannuation affect you.

A full picture on the best approach can only be put together with tax implications of contributions, withdrawals, rollovers and the selection of the right retirement income stream.

Retirement Planning

For many of us, retirement is when dreams become reality. Released from the commitment of full-time employment, we are able to choose from a range of lifestyle options.

Despite having all of this to look forward to, preparing for retirement can be one of the most stressful and uncertain times of your life.

Start planning early

Planning early will help you get the most out of your retirement. The Government’s objective is to provide a full pension only as a safety net for those in real financial need and have therefore introduced generous tax concessions for superannuation and retirement income streams so that with adequate planning individuals can generate their own retirement income.

Budgeting & Cash Flow Strategies

Budget and cash flow plans are often underestimated. When implementing a long-term plan it is important to track your spending and account for all your financial resources. Whilst it may seem tedious, maintaining an accurate budget is a fundamental element of placing your financial house in order. Keeping and regularly reviewing your budget helps empower you, to control your money, rather than letting your money control you.

Managed Funds

With thousands of managed funds on the market, we can help you to choose a fund that reflects your risk profile. Managed Funds can offer flexibility and diversity without requiring a large initial investment. Our clients have utilised Managed Funds to boost their superannuation strategies, as well as to help save for major goals such as purchasing a family home and retirement planning. As with all investment strategies, it is important to have an overall financial plan and to understand the risks associated with potential investment.

Insurance – Personal Risk

Insurance is the key to managing the financial burden on families and businesses caused by death or disability. The effects can be insurmountable, and protecting your loved ones against these events is crucial.

As well as protecting your ability to earn an income, we also recommend that you protect the assets you accumulate throughout your career and into retirement.

We are experienced in the areas of:

  • Life insurance
  • Trauma insurance
  • Total & Permanent Disability insurance
  • Income Protection insurance

Insurance – Business Risk

The right package of insurance can help protect your business from a broad range of risks.

Key person Insurance

Key person insurance is essentially life, total and permanent disability (TPD) and trauma insurance taken out by your business on the life of a person critical to the business.

Insurance to cover business succession planning needs

A business agreement based around a succession and exit plan is key to ensuring that a business and its owners are protected and in agreement if a co-owner departs the business.

Business expense insurance

Business expense insurance helps business owners pay fixed monthly expenses in the event they are totally disabled and unable to work and due to their disablement the business does not have sufficient funds to cover ongoing expenses.

Business loan protection

This type of cover is intended to protect a lender from financial loss following the death or disablement of a business owner who is liable for the repayment of money borrowed by the company. Business loan protection provides a lump sum on the on the death or disablement of the insured to repay all or part of a loan.
